Natalie June is an independent singer-songwriter based in Bowen at the top of the Whitsundays in Queensland, Australia. Natalie enjoys storytelling through music, blending cinematic inspiration and heartfelt expression in her songs and performances.
Her musical influences include modern artists such as Regina Spektor, Feist, Bahamas, Radiohead, Lana Del Rey, Angel Olsen, and Julia Jacklin, as well as legendary musicians like Jeff Buckley, Kate Bush, Roy Orbison, Otis Redding, and Connie Francis. Natalie also finds musical inspiration in talented classic film icons such as Ginger Rogers and Ilene Woods (the voice of Disney’s 'Cinderella'), and, in soundtrack music.
Natalie’s music combines elements of folk and indie pop with a hint of nostalgia. She writes songs inspired by films and real life.
Musical Journey
Natalie’s passion for music began early in life. She sang in her primary school choir and has always had an interest in creative arts such as drawing and dance. After finishing high school, she picked up her sister’s acoustic guitar, inspired by interviews of some of her favourite musicians.
She started performing covers at local open mic events in 2022 and soon began writing her own songs, expressing her love of storytelling through music. In July 2025, Natalie performed a short set as the local opening act for the ‘Festival of Small Halls’ Winter Tour at the Wangaratta Bowls Club in Bowen. She felt encouraged by the other artists at the event, which inspired her to begin recording her own music.
Releases
In August 2025, Natalie started purchasing recording equipment and began learning how to produce music from her dining room table. She embraced a lo-fi, demo-style sound inspired by the early recordings of her favourite artists.
Her debut single, ‘Ticket to Paradise’ was released on February 19, 2026, with more releases planned for the coming months.
